Season for Celebrating

Posted on November 26, 2014 by Curtis Williams

It's the time of year when friends and loved ones gather to celebrate, relax and reflect on much to be thankful for. Crowded airports, busy freeways, all in anticipation of the holiday season. The rest of 2014 is sure to fly by in a fury of holiday shopping, an overabundance of food and joyful laughter echoing through homes across the country.

In some homes, it may be baby's first Thanksgiving. Which could mean, lots of yummy pureed turkey and yams. Not a bad combo. In our Bellybuds office, we've been thinking about ways families can also include a little festive attention to expecting moms, with growing baby bumps.

Here are some of the ideas we came up with:

1) Belly Casting: With family and friends all gathered in one place (which probably doesn't happen often), why not make a belly cast of the expecting mom in your family? Then, each family member can write a special message on the cast. This could be a great keepsake for years to come!

2) Name Game: It can take an entire pregnancy to come up with the "right" name for a baby. There's tons of suggestions from family and friends. Lots of research about meanings and making sure the middle name is the perfect compliment to what the child's initials will be. This year, have some fun at the holiday table, with the baby name game. Ask each person at the table to write a baby name on piece of paper. Place each name in a bowl in the center of the table. Right before dessert, have the expecting parents take out 3 names from the bowl. It could be a total win, or it could be a hilarious disaster. But, either way, it's a fun game.

3) Record a Special Message: Babies developing in the womb will certainly benefit from all the yummy food their moms will enjoy over the next few months. And while babies at 20 weeks can begin to hear what's going on outside in the big-big world, the holiday season is a great time to have family members gather to record special messages the baby can hear for years to come. It could be a traditional family lullaby, a story read by grandmothers or sweet messages from aunts, uncles or cousins. Using Bellybuds', VoiceShare recording network, family members can record these special messages for the baby, and the memories will last long after the last slice of pumpkin pie has left the table. Expecting moms can play the messages throughout the rest of her pregnancy and even save as a keepsake for after the baby arrives.

Our Bellybuds family has plenty to be thankful for this year. Our Baby-Bump Sound System has found its way into homes around the world. In recent months, we launched our new music and meditation digital albums, which moms and babies-in-the-womb are already enjoying! We're continuing to expand and grow as a company and we're especially grateful this season for our customers!
